SERVICE
Our congregation is committed to upholding a multicultural and diverse celebration of God and humanity. We are not all the same, and the gifts that we offer reflect our individuality. We honor these individual contributions that together help us build a faith and service oriented community.
FOOD PANTRY
Our mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ by providing fresh food, grocery products and hygiene items to individuals and families in need in our community. We collect, store, and distribute these goods on a weekly basis. Serving those in need with kindness, confidentiality, respect, and a smile.

who has generously donated much needed food and toiletry items,
as well as monetary donations and time as volunteers.
We are very grateful for all your support!

Food and hygiene item donations are always gladly accepted.

OUR IMMEDIATE NEEDS ARE:​

rice: brown/white in 1-pound bags
-
cans of water-packed chicken breast
-
cans of tuna
-
shelf-stable milk: 8-ounce for kids
-
fresh milk: half-gallons (regular, lactose-free, almond, or soy milk)
-
evaporated canned milk
-
soup: vegetarian and other
-
pasta, cereal, crackers
-
in addition to rice, other gluten-free products

HYGIENE ITEMS:

toothbrushes
-
toothpaste
-
dental floss
-
shampoo & conditioner
-
deodorant
GUIDELINES:
-
We cannot accept opened/used or repackaged food, undated or expired food, or warped/damaged items of any kind. (The Regional Food Bank is quite strict about what pantries can accept for our and our clients' safety.)

Direct food purchases for the pantry -- brought from the grocery stores directly to the church -- are safer than taking the items into homes and then donating them.

Members of the congregation may donate food in the basket by the coat closet in Cordes Hall at their convenience.

Emergency bags of food are available any day to anyone in immediate need. Please call the office Mondays through Fridays between 10am and 3pm to speak to the church's office administrator and coordinate pick-up. Or leave a voicemail or send an email to rhinebeckreformed@frontiernet.net.

DONATIONS:

Bread Alone continues to provide bread for the guests who simply love it! Thank you.

Thanks to the Rhinebeck Community Gardens, the pantry receives fresh vegetables weekly in addition to the potatoes, onions and apples that are provided.

The pantry is grateful to the community for its continued financial support, as well as donations of food and hygiene products.
​

Non-perishable food donations are accepted at any time, as are hygiene products. Perishable food donations are accepted on Mondays only.​​

Monetary donations can be made to the Adopt a Program for Rhinebeck Reformed Church Food Pantry at the Regional Food Bank of NE NY, via online or snail-mail, or directly to the church via snail-mail.
​
PROCEDURES:
-
Pantry guests first check-in at Cordes Hall and complete a small amount of paperwork.
​

IDs with a current address for all people in the household are needed for new pantry guests. This includes children. (Any school letter, report card or birth certificate or benefit card are accepted.)
​

They then select their food and hygiene from the choices list provided based upon the number of people in their families.

Each week, guests bring re-usable bags to reduce paper waste. If they do not have these, the pantry provides them one time.

Melodye Moore -- 2019
Melodye Moore serves as a faith ambassador of the Rhinebeck Reformed Church in the broader community through her public service and faith witness. Her commitment to strengthening the fabric of our community through volunteerism garnered her the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Dutchess County Agricultural Society, and her moral and spiritual character has impacted the different committees she has served on or has led as chair. Melodye’s wisdom and pragmatic style of leadership has helped untangle complex problems, and her commitment to the values of our Reformed faith, such as loving your neighbor, has been embodied at the highest level. Melodye is a previous Elder on the Consistory, and she has been the Vice President of the Consistory. Currently, she serves as chair of the congregation’s strategic growth process, including the implementation of the Beekman Livingston Perez scholarship.

David Baldauf-- 2019
​David Baldauf (d.) created a consciousness of environmental stewardship at the Rhinebeck Reformed Church and at the Classis level, having led a committee to provide an educational program on ecological justice, coordinated a liturgy for an annual Caring for Creation Sunday, replaced lights fixtures at our church, and instituted nature walks and talks, among other examples. Though now passed, David’s faith witness reminds us that we bear a responsibility with what goes on in God’s created world. He was an Elder on Consistory and a former Vice President of the Consistory. He will be greatly missed.
MISSION AND OUTREACH
Our goal is to provide opportunities and restore hope for people to become all that God intends them to be by putting our Christian faith into action through service to the community. We wish to share our endless love with all by connecting the church and the community.
